Tamarack Peak
A week ago I probably would have said it wasn't worth heading back off the Mt Rose Highway anymore, head for the closed ski resort if you want some skiing. But after a week of snow (and rain), I figured it was worth a look. Snow was actually very spring like, soft 1/2-1" on a carvable base. After skiing the gut of Hourglass Bowl I went back up and skied one of my favorite little north facing lines that I hadn't skied yet this year. I then headed over to Proletariat bowl, very rocky and the snow as softer then the first two lines. A great day of backcountry skiing in Tahoe!

Mt Lassen Camping
It's been one of the driest springs in recent history, of course, the weekend we have 17 people heading for Mt Lassen it decides to rain and snow. They even reclosed the road Friday night. Still, we ate VERY well and had a great time "luxury" car camping.

Mt Scowden
Today we left a car down in Lundy Canyon (we were able to drive all the way to the trailhead) and then drove up to Saddlebag Lake Rd. near Tioga Pass. We climbed up toward Tioga Peak from the snow covered road, then contoured along the Tioga Crest towards Mt. Scowden. We gained the ridge a bit sooner then we needed too and ended up going up and down a bit as we contoured, but it was beautiful terrain. It was a bit late in the day by the time we reached our goal, but the NW aspect and a breeze that blew most of the day kept the snow really nice.
